Jurgen Klopp has said that his Borussia Dortmund side wanted to go through to the semi-finals of the Champions League, despite taking a 3-0 deficit into their second leg.
Marco Reus scored twice in the first half to bring the German side back into the tie, but they were unable to level the scores in the second half.
The manager told reporters: "The lads wanted to go through, we have not been able to show that in Madrid but today we were capable of showing that 100%. You could make a video of this game and show it to all the teams that lose a first leg 3-0.
"When I high-fived our injured player Neven Subotic after the game, he told me how proud he was to be a part of this team and this is exactly how I see it as well."
Dortmund were last season's beaten finalists in the Champions League.
