England Under-19 international Jadon Sancho has signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga club have announced.
Sancho, at Manchester City’s academy until last year, has extended his stay at the Westfalenstadion until the summer of 2022.
It is reward for the 18-year-old’s impressive start to the season which has seen him score one goal and provide the assist for six others, despite starting only one match this campaign, as Dortmund have moved to the top of the table in Germany.
Sancho told the club’s official website: “I’m so happy that I chose to come to Dortmund a year ago. Everything I was hoping for has come true: this city loves football like no other, and at BVB young players get regular playing time.
“I can really make outstanding progress here. I’m happy, delighted and proud to be part of this team. We’re building something incredible.”
Sancho scored five goals and contributed seven assists during his debut season with Dortmund.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: “Jadon Sancho is without doubt one of the most exciting players in Europe.
“This contract extension acknowledges the extremely positive development he’s made.”
