German youth international Moritz Leitner has signed a new long-term contract at Borussia Dortmund, before immediately agreeing to spend the next two seasons on loan at Stuttgart.
The 20-year-old has already played more than 50 times for Dortmund in midfield, with Jurgen Klopp giving the starlet a chance to shine in the senior side after losing Shinji Kagawa last summer.
With the playmaker desperate for consistent first-team football Dortmund have agreed a temporary switch to Bundesliga rivals Stuttgart, a move Lietner is relishing.
He told the club's official website: "Stuttgart are a superb club with great tradition.
"I absolutely love the whole set-up here with the fabulous fans.
"I think we can achieve a lot here. I really want to see Stuttgart in the position they should be in and I want to play a part in making sure they achieve that."
Dortmund have decided to let Leitner go until 2015 despite losing attacking midfielder Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich next season.
