Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has revealed that Ilkay Gundogan has asked to leave the club this summer.
The German international midfielder has been a reported target of Manchester United and, with his contract due to expire in June 2016, BVB will allow the 24-year-old to leave in the upcoming transfer window.
Zorc admitted that Gundogan wants to leave Signal Iduna Park but insists that the Bundesliga side have every intention of keeping hold of his teammate Mats Hummels.
"Ilkay told us he wants to leave this summer," the former Germany international told Sky Sports. "But we have received no offers from any clubs for any of our players as of now.
"Every player always has to make decisions on their future but, for us, the intention is clear to keep Mats."
BVB coach Jurgen Klopp will also leave Westfalenstadion when the Bundesliga season ends.
