Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf has revealed that he is proud of making a move to Brazil and stated his intention to make an impact in South America.
The 36-year-old was presented as a Botafogo player on Saturday and cannot wait to get started.
"When I was 10 years old I cried when Brazil were eliminated in the 1986 World Cup," said Seedorf.
"This is a very nice moment in my career. To play in a country where so many great players come from.
Seedorf added that he intends to help Botafogo capture a first national title since 1995. He said: "I want to be competitive at the highest level. I hope I can contribute to the dream they have here at Botafogo to be national champions.
"It will not be easy. We will need a little luck and will have to work hard."
Seedorf left AC Milan in the close season to end a glittering career across some of Europe's elite clubs.
