Bournemouth booked their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup by beating Burton Albion 4-1 on Tuesday night.
It took Bournemouth just five minutes to take the lead at Dean Court when Brett Pitman arrived at the back post to convert an inviting cross from Matt Richie.
Despite being put on the back foot for most of the early stages, Burton found an equaliser in the 35th minute thanks to a deflected effort from Jimmy Phillips.
Pitman came close to regaining the lead for the hosts a few moments later but Dean Lyness reacted well to push his shot to safety.
However, Tommy Elphick beat Lyness before the break with a calm finish from close range following good work by Charlie Daniels.
Lyness continued to be tested in the second half and he kept his side in the game with a smart save to deny Pitman.
Burton's hopes of causing an upset were dealt a blow in the 85th minute after Ryan Fraser chipped in a third on the counter-attack.
When Harry Arter was fouled inside the box, Pitman was given the opportunity to add gloss to the scoreline and he took the opportunity by slotting home a penalty.
