Bournemouth's Max Aarons ruled out for "some time"

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola reveals that full-back Max Aarons will be out for some time after picking up a hamstring injury in Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool
Sports Mole

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has confirmed that full-back Max Aarons will be out of action for "some time" with a hamstring injury.

Aarons was forced off in the latter stages of Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, leaving his side to complete the remainder of the contest with 10 men as Iraola had already used five substitutes.

The 24-year-old is now set for a spell on the sidelines after it was confirmed that he sustained a hamstring injury for the second time this season.

Aarons previously spent time in the treatment room with a hamstring issue on the opposite leg, before he returned to full fitness at the end of December.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's FA Cup clash with Swansea City, Iraola confirmed Aarons has joined an injury list that contains fellow full-backs Adam Smith and Ryan Fredericks.

Iraola told reporters: "It is especially the full-back department, I would say. Apart from Tyler Adams, it is all full-backs.

"Max is obviously out. He has a muscle injury. He will be out for some time. I don't know how long it will take, but you have a lot of references with these kind of hamstring injuries. I don't want to say an exact date.

While Iraola is having to cope with a number of absentees, he is hoping to have left-back Milos Kerkez available for the fourth-round tie.

The Hungary international is closing in on a return to fitness after missing the club's last five matches due to injury.

Iraola added: "It's good news, he [Kerkez] will train today and he did some things with the group yesterday.

"Milos is young, energetic and I know that he will push and if he has a chance, he'll try to take it I hope he has good sensations today.

"He's been out for some weeks so I don't know his fitness level because it's not the same training alone as it is training with the group but at least we know we can use him if we need."

Iraola also revealed that a late decision will be made on the availability of Antoine Semenyo, who is travelling back from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Semenyo started all three group games for Ghana at the tournament, but his country failed to make it to the knockout rounds after mustering just two points.

There is a chance that Semenyo could be on the bench for Thursday's clash at the Vitality Stadium, where the Cherries will look to beat Swansea and reach the fifth round for the first time since the 2020-21 season. body check tags ::
