Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke a doubt for Burnley clash

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke is a doubt for Sunday's Premier League meeting with Bournemouth due to a knee issue.

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has said that a late decision will be made on Dominic Solanke's availability for Sunday's away clash with Burnley.

The forward has been in fine form for the Cherries this season, netting a total of 16 goals in 29 matches across all competitions.

However, Bournemouth had to cope without his services for Tuesday's FA Cup fifth-round meeting with Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium.

In Solanke's absence, the Cherries fell to a narrow 1-0 loss after going to extra time against the Championship leaders.

Iraola confirmed after the game that the striker could not take his place in the matchday squad due to a knee problem that has troubled him since Bournemouth's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of December.

While the issue is not believed to be too serious, Iraola has revealed that it is currently unclear whether Solanke will be ready for Sunday's trip to Turf Moor.

"The MRI with Dom went quite well but he has not trained with us," Iraola told reporters at Friday's pre-match press conference.

"We have one more training session before Sunday so I leave chances open, but it depends on how he manages the pain. It's true he has pain in the knee, at least with the MRI everything is clear, there is nothing strange, it's a matter of his sensations as today he wasn't training.

"Tomorrow I find out if we have a chance with Dom. It's a matter of if he still feels the pain, or if it's improved. He will be the one making the decision. It's a situation that isn't new for Dom. Since the Spurs game away, it's something that bothers him, he's been managing it quite well but this week he's felt more pain.

"We're trying to help him as much as we can from the medical department. We will try until the end tomorrow and if he's comfortable he may want to train but we'll have to see how it goes.

Iraola is at least hopeful that January addition Enes Unal will be available after he was forced off at half time against Leicester with a collarbone injury.

"Enes was training today," the Bournemouth boss added. "He showed that he has pain, but I hope he is at least available for Sunday."

The Cherries will definitely be without Ryan Fredericks, James Hill, Lloyd Kelly, Max Aarons and Tyler Adams due to injury.

Bournemouth will be desperate to claim all three points against the Clarets, having failed to win any of their last seven league matches since beating Fulham 3-0 on Boxing Day.

Despite experiencing a poor run of form, the South-coast side still have the safety net of an eight-point cushion to the bottom three. body check tags ::
