How Peru could line up against Brazil

Sports Mole looks at how Peru could line up in their Copa America semi-final with Brazil.

Peru will be without the services of one of their most important players against Brazil in the semi-finals of the Copa America, as Andre Carrillo is suspended due to his red card in the quarter-finals.

Carrillo was sent off in the 85th minute of his side's last-eight clash with Paraguay, which Peru won on penalties following an exciting 3-3 draw in Goias.

The 30-year-old, who has scored 11 goals for his country, could be replaced in the starting side by Santiago Ormeno, who has only received four caps and is yet to find the back of the net.

Head coach Ricardo Gareca is expected to resist the temptation to make changes elsewhere, meaning that Renato Tapia and Christian Cueva will again line up in midfield.

Peru will know that they cannot afford to open up against Brazil, which could see them line up in a 4-5-1 formation, with Gianluca Lapadula at the tip of the attack.

Lapadula has scored three times for his country at this summer's competition and certainly has the quality to cause Brazil's back four problems in the semi-final affair.

Pedro Gallese will again wear the captain's armband between the sticks, while Anderson Santamaria should continue alongside Christian Ramos in the middle of the defence.

Peru possible starting lineup: Gallese; Corzo, Ramos, Santamaria, Trauco; Ormeno, Pena, Tapia, Yotun, Cueva; Lapadula
