How Brazil could line up against Argentina

Sports Mole looks at how Brazil could line up for their international friendly against Argentina in the absence of Neymar, Dani Alves and Ederson.

Brazil take on bitter rivals Argentina in a glamour international friendly on Friday as they look to end their longest winless run for more than 15 years.

Tite's side have not managed a single victory in their four outings since winning the Copa America in the summer, when they beat Argentina in the semi-finals en route to the trophy.

By contrast, their opponents on Friday are unbeaten since that semi-final defeat and are able to welcome talisman Lionel Messi back into their ranks after he served a three-month international suspension.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the five-time world champions could line up for the contest.

There are some notable absentees from the latest Brazil squad, and none is bigger than Neymar as the Paris Saint-Germain forward remains sidelined with the hamstring injury which he suffered during the last international break.

Tite's side won the Copa America without Neymar, of course, but Dani Alves was voted the player of the tournament during the summer and also misses out on the latest squad alongside the likes of Marcelo, Fernandinho and Vinicius Junior.

The latter's Real Madrid teammate Rodrygo is handed a call-up, though, and will hope to make his international debut in the same month as he scored a hat-trick in the Champions League.

Rodrygo is one of six uncapped players in the squad, including Aston Villa pair Douglas Luiz and Wesley and young Real Betis defender Emerson.

Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Jesus will hope to put their club rivalry to one side more effectively than Raheem Sterling and Joe Gomez managed on England duty, while Richarlison could make up an all-Premier League front three.

Casemiro seemingly remains ahead of Fabinho in the pecking order for Tite, while Philippe Coutinho is set to make his 60th appearance for his country.

David Neres and Ederson were both forced to pull out of the squad due to injury, with the latter's absence leaving Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker as the clear choice in goal against an Argentine attack boasting returning duo Messi and Sergio Aguero, in addition to Lautaro Martinez and Paulo Dybala.
