Charlton Athletic have held Brentford to a goalless half-time draw at Griffin Park in their opening game of the Championship season.
Tottenham Hotspur loanee Alex Pritchard came close to opening the scoring, curling just wide as the Bees looked keen to mark their return to the second tier in style following a 21-year absence.
Charlton soon grew into the contest and perhaps should have gone ahead on 21 minutes, as George Tucudean spurned the chance to mark his debut with a goal by missing a one-on-one opportunity with David Button.
Brentford missed a good chance to snatch a half-time lead, as Alan Judge let fly from range but Stephen Henderson was able to tip the deflected effort wide as both sides cancelled each other out at the break.
