Leyton Orient have strengthened their position at the top of the League One table with a 2-0 win at Brentford.
The league leaders were evenly matched with the home side for the opening hour of their contest, before they took the lead through a David Mooney penalty.
The visitors began to assert their authority on the match, and five minutes from time, Shaun Batt broke clear to score from 12 yards to take Orient five points clear of the chasing pack.
Read below to see how the action unfolded at Griffin Park.
Hello, and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of Brentford's clash with League One leaders Leyton Orient.
Well this isn't a bad match for a Monday evening, is it? Last year's playoff finalists against a team who have recorded maximum points this season. This should be a cracker!
Before I go any further, I will bring you tonight's lineups...
BRENTFORD XI: Lee; Logan, Dean, Taylor, Craig; McCormack, Diagouraga, Forshaw; Fillo, Grigg, Donaldson
BRENTFORD SUBSTITUTES: O'Brien, O'Connor, Reeves, Teixeira, Dallas, Trotta, El Alagui
LEYTON ORIENT XI: Jones; Cuthbert, Clarke, Baudry, Omozusi; Odubajo, Vincelot, James, Cox; Lisbie, Mooney
LEYTON ORIENT SUBSTITUTES: Larkins, Sawyer, Batt, Lasimant, Gorman, Bartley, Stockley
Brentford are still without on-loan goalkeeper David Button, who serves the second of this three-game suspension, while defender Scott Barron misses out, despite regaining fitness after injury.
As for Leyton Orient, they retain the same starting lineup that thrashed Notts County in their previous fixture, but defender Gary Sawyer does return to the bench after a month on the sidelines.
Despite being the visitors this evening, many will be expecting Orient to continue their record-breaking start to the season that has seen them win their first seven matches. They've also won a couple of games in the Johnstone Paint Trophy, with their only defeat coming at home to Premier League outfit Hull City in the League Cup.
Brentford have enjoyed a decent start themselves, losing just one League One fixture since the start of the season, that coming away at Bradford City at the beginning of the month.
The home side will be wary of the opposition strikers this evening. Thirteen of Orient's 21 league goals have come from frontmen David Mooney and Kevin Lisbie, who have struck up an intimidating partnership. Dean Cox is another who will be eager to add to his growing tally of four goals this season.
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has opted to go for the combination of Clayton Donaldson and Will Grigg this evening, with top scorer in all competitions, Farid El Alagui, taking a place on the bench.
We are just 15 minute away from kickoff at Griffin Park. How do you see this match going?
PREDICTION!: The fact that these two teams have only lost one game out of 13 between them this season would usually push me into predicting that this match will end in a draw. However, I'm backing the exciting partnership between Mooney and Lisbie to continue tonight and I can see one of them netting the winner in a 2-1 victory for the away side.
If Leyton Orient win this evening, they will extend their lead to five points at the top of the League One table, but if Brentford can cause a surprise, they will move up three places to seventh.
The two teams are on their way out onto the pitch at Griffin Park.
Orient boss Russell Slade has insisted that stability in his side's starting lineup has been the key to their excellent start to the campaign. This is the seventh match in a row that the O's manager has been able to name an unchanged team.
A couple of minutes later than scheduled, we are underway.
It's been a slow opening 90 seconds, with the ball going back-and-forth from goalkeeper to goalkeeper. It can only get better...
EFFORT! Kevin Lisbie gets the first effort on goal of the evening, but his volley from the edge of the penalty area went a few yards wide of the far post.
The first five minutes belonged to Orient, but a breakaway lead by Will Grigg earns Brentford a couple of corners, which eventually result in a free kick on the byline.
CHANCE! It should be 1-0 to Brentford. Harlee Dean rises above everyone to get his head on the ball from six yards out, but it flashes wide of the post. He will be disappointed with that.
Dean is in the thick of it once again. A lambasting run from the back sees him enter the penalty area, but he is eased off the ball by the defender. There were a few optimistic appeals for a penalty, but the referee wasn't interested.
Brentford win another free kick in a similar position to that of the one a few minutes ago. Adam Forshaw opted to go for goal this time, but his effort was straight at Jamie Jones.
Orient haven't looked like a side who have a 100% record. They give the ball away in midfield to Forshaw, but his curling effort clears the crossbar by a couple of yards.
Yet another set piece for Brentford, this time around 30 yards out. It's another strike from Forshaw, but it's a relatively tame attempt, and Jones has little trouble in claiming the ball.
CHANCE! Despite Brentford's pressure, they should be behind. Orient hold onto possession on the edge of the penalty area, before Moses Odubajo's cross was headed over by Mooney from no more than eight yards.
Neither team have being shy about getting a shot in on goal. There has been eight in the opening 20 minutes, and Clayton Donaldson adds to that with a driven shot that forces Jones to dive to his right.
The goalmouth action has been lacking in the last few minutes, but both sides are playing the ball around nicely. Both teams are taking the opportunity to have a quick drink while Harlee Dean receives treatment.
OFF THE LINE! A long throw from Orient causes havoc in the Brentford penalty area and Dean is forced to clear off the line, but the ball arrives at the feet of Mooney, but he blazes a volley over.
Donaldson and Grigg link up well to earn Brentford their third corner of the match, but despite a creative ball in, Dean sends his first-time effort not only over the bar, but out of the ground.
There are just 10 minutes to go before the break - this game has flown by! The chances are beginning to dry up a little, but I'm sure both outfits will be happy to go into half time level.
Brentford break through Donaldson, but he is well held up by the defender. He manages to get the ball back to Forshaw, but his inventive through ball is just about claimed by Jones.
That's superb link-up play between Lisbie and Mooney. A long ball was driven into the chest of Lisbie, but he controlled it into the path of Mooney, who could only drag a 20-yard shot wide of Lee's goal.
CHANCE! It's all happening. Brentford stopper Lee slips while attempting a clearance but the home defence manage to recover the situation by sending the ball up the pitch, and it goes all the way through to Donaldson, but under the close attention from Baudry, he flicks the ball wide.
There will be one minute of added-on time.
HALF TIME: Brentford 0-0 Leyton Orient
That's it for the opening 45 minutes, and we are goalless at Griffin Park. It's been a half with plenty of intent from both sides, but neither goalkeeper has been over-worked.
David Mooney has looked the most likely player to open the scoring. He was unlucky with a volley on the half-hour mark, but he should have headed Orient in front early on in proceedings.
It's Brentford who are dominating the stats so far. They have had 58% of the possession, while they have got seven shots on goal compared to five from the visitors.
If there are any Spanish supporters out there, we have just began coverage for the La Liga fixture between Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao, which starts at 9pm.
We are underway in the second half.
It's been a fast start to the half from Leyton Orient, who quickly earn a free kick, but Nathan Clarke is adjudged to have committed a foul at the back post.
Clarke has just gone straight through Fillo, but the referee deemed the challenge fair. Uwe Rosler is not a happy man.
EFFORT! That's why plenty of clubs at an higher level are keeping an eye on Clayton Donaldson. He collected the ball on the edge of the area, before turning to fire the ball inches away from the top corner from 20 yards. Great effort.
Brentford are battering the six-yard area with crosses, but Orient do fantastically to hold firm. The first booking of the evening comes when Diagouraga slides in late when the visitors attempted to break away from their own goal.
We have a broken flag, which has succumbed after a heavy challenge on the touchline. It's soon back in working order when the assistant recovers the broken part.
CHANCE! Brentford maintain their momentum, but they still can't breach Jones's goal. Firstly, Craig sees a close-range effort blocked, before an header goes straight at the goalkeeper. The Bees need to take advantage here.
Another chance from Donaldson, but his header lacked power and it's another save from Jones. It's coming...
It can't be long before either manager makes their first change. I imagine Russell Slade will be the first man to act, but Uwe Rosler could decide to introduce Trotta.
PENALTY TO LEYTON ORIENT!
GOAL! Brentford 0-1 Leyton Orient (Mooney)
Out of nowhere, Leyton Orient have the lead. Mooney was hauled down in the box by Logan, in what seemed to be a needless challenge. Mooney dusted himself down to convert the ball into the side-netting, leaving Lee with no chance.
CHANCE! Talk about a momentum swing. Some neat play finds Odubajo, and after cutting inside, the winger forces Lee into a fingertip save.
SUBSTITUTION! Brentford make their first alteration, bringing on Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeira in place of Fillo. They need to weather the Leyton Orient storm.
That goal has sucked the life out of the Brentford crowd, but the Leyton Orient faithful are in full voice. Just as I write that, an extremely late challenge from Baudry earns himself a yellow card.
SUBSTITUTION! Two more changes from Rosler see Stuart Dallas and Marcello Trotta introduced into the fray in place of McCormack and Grigg.
Leyton Orient haven't shut-up shop just yet, and are pushing for a second. Dean Cox showed some neat touches on the right before delivering a cross into the box after just avoided the far post. Just over 10 minutes remaining at Griffin Park.
SUBSTITUTION! The visitors finally make their first change of the evening, bringing off 34-year-old Kevin Lisbie for Shaun Batt, who recently scored a hat-trick in the Johnstone Paint Trophy.
GOAL! Brentford 0-2 Leyton Orient (Batt)
Well that's the way to introduce yourself! Leyton Orient net their second and that's surely game over. Odubajo played a fine through ball to Batt, and the substitute displayed excellent composure to place the ball past Lee.
We are only eight games in, but there are surely a few Orient supporters beginning to think about promotion? They will be moving five points clear in a few minutes time. David Mooney is departing the action, with Marvin Bartley being given a brief run out.
There will be SIX minutes of added-on time. Where has that come on?!
The ball is flying all over the place in the Orient box! Dean's attempted overhead-kick was blocked, before Teixeira's volley was deflected wide of the post.
FULL TIME: Brentford 0-2 Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient's incredible run to the start of the season continues, as they grind out a 2-0 win at Brentford. That's eight wins out of eight.
For the first hour of this contest, Brentford were the better side, but they didn't shown enough in front of goal to create many clear opportunities and once Leyton Orient went ahead, they didn't look like losing.
This victory sees Orient move five points clear of Peterborough United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, while they have already created a 10-point gap between themselves and seventh.
That will be all from Sports Mole for this fixture. We'll be back again over the next couple of days with plenty of coverage from the third round matches in the Capital One Cup. Good night everyone.
