Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship fixture between Brentford and Huddersfield Town, including team news and injury news.

Brentford head into the first ever league game at their new stadium - a Championship encounter with Huddersfield Town - looking to hit back from their surprise defeat at Birmingham City.

Meanwhile, the visitors are yet to score a goal in all competitions this season, putting Carlos Corberan under pressure to get a positive result on the board on Saturday afternoon.

Match preview

Heading into Wednesday's EFL Cup tie with Southampton, Thomas Frank would have had concerns about how long Brentford's hangover would last after narrowly missing out on promotion.

However, getting the better of a Saints XI which was pretty much at full strength will fill Frank with the belief that his team are still in good shape to mount another bid for the Premier League.

Until the future of Said Benrahma is resolved, there is the risk of disruption behind the scenes, particularly with Frank waiting for even more transfer funds to be added to the club-record fee recouped for Ollie Watkins.

Frank and his squad cannot lose sight of the fact that they must get things right in matches when they are favourites, a type of game where they have come undone more often than not since July.

Nevertheless, proving themselves against Southampton felt like an important step in their progression, and Frank will expect more of the same in the coming weeks.

From Huddersfield's perspective, they will be holding onto Brentford's past frailties in fixtures such as this one as they look for a much-needed confidence boost.

Signings are continuing to come through the door, the most recent one being Naby Sarr on a free transfer, but the Terriers desperately need to find some stability as soon as possible.

Although they only lost out to Norwich City last weekend through Richard Stearman's individual error, they did not offer much in the final third.

That will concern Corberan, who knows that he has some way to go to justify being brought in as the surprise replacement for Danny Cowley.

Team News

Given the speculation regarding his future, it is unclear whether Pontus Jansson will return to the middle of Brentford's backline.

Charlie Goode is on standby to deputise for the Sweden international, with Ethan Pinnock expected to return after remaining as an unused substitute against Southampton.

Emiliano Marcondes and Ivan Toney should also feature for the Bees in attack.

Huddersfield boss Corberan will almost certainly make alterations to his team, including in attack, where Isaac Mbenza may be provided with an opportunity.

Sarr could come into the team at centre-back or left-back, leaving the spots of Stearman and Harry Toffolo at risk.

Brentford possible starting lineup:
Daniels; Dalsgaard, Goode, Pinnock, Henry; Dasilva, Norsgaard, Baptiste; Mbuemo, Toney, Marcondes

Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Hamer; Pipa, Schindler, Sarr, Toffolo; Pritchard, Hogg, Jackson; Bacuna, Mbenza, Diakhaby

We say: Brentford 2-0 Huddersfield Town

Although complacency is a factor within the Bees squad, Frank will do all that he can to ensure that it does not become a factor at the weekend. Given the manner of their victory at Southampton, everything points to the home side coming through in comfortable fashion.
