Brentford beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 in an entertaining five-goal thriller at Griffin Park.

Brentford prevailed as victors at home to Brighton & Hove Albion this afternoon after a pulsating 3-2 win at Griffin Park.

Brighton started in the ascendancy, and Andrew Crofts was unlucky to see his third-minute strike cannon back off the post for the visitors.

The home fans were infuriated shortly after though, as the referee made the contentious decision to only book Lewis Dunk in the 13th minute after he pulled back an onrushing Andre Gray. Jota sent the resulting free kick just wide of the post.

Then, in the space of 60 seconds, two chances changed the shape of the game.

First, Sam Baldock rounded David Button, but saw his goal-bound effort cleared off the line. Brentford immediately raced down the other end and went 1-0 up after a smart finish from Moses Odubajo.

Jota and Alan Judge both went close for the home side before Gray doubled their lead in the 32nd minute with a poacher's finish from close range.

Five minutes before the break, Gordon Greer gave a glimmer of hope to the away side as he thumped the ball home from close range at a corner to make it 2-1.

It took the home side less than 10 minutes of the second half to restore their two-goal lead as Jonathan Douglas headed home from close range in the 54th minute.

However, Danny Holla sent a measured curling effort into the far corner just six minutes later as the visitors refused to give up without a fight.

Joe Bennett then almost levelled for Brighton, but he dragged his effort wide of the far post and the home side held on to secure another three points since their promotion to the Championship.
