Bryan Mbeumo's injury-time strike claimed a 2-2 draw for Brentford against Bournemouth in an entertaining encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Cameroon forward continued his excellent form in front of goal by coolly placing the ball beyond the reach of Neto, with Milos Kerkez's head in his hands after making an error leading to the goal.

Brentford had opened the scoring after just seven minutes, with Mathias Jensen's free kick creeping beyond Neto's goalline before Bournemouth's goalkeeper could push the ball out. The former Barcelona stopper had given the free kick away by fouling Kevin Schade outside of the penalty area.

However, since the start of last season, no team has dropped more points from winning positions (now 17) in Premier League home games than Brentford.

As such, it was perhaps no surprise when Dominic Solanke levelled the scoring moments before the half-hour mark, with the former Liverpool striker latching onto Marcos Senesi's through-ball before making no mistake with his low strike towards the near post.

Ryan Christie had earlier spurned a glorious opportunity after displaying dazzling feet to beat Ben Mee all ends up, but Mark Flekken was on hand to deny the Scotland international before superbly denying Antoine Semenyo's goalbound header. Schade also buzzed an effort against the post for the Bees during an even first half.

Only Mbeumo will know how he failed to put Brentford ahead only a few minutes after the half-time interval, with the Cameroon forward somehow bending his effort wide of the bottom left corner after Rico Henry had superbly cut the ball back to find him 10 yards from goal.

Vitaly Janelt and Christian Norgaard both threatened with headers, before Yoane Wissa twisted and turned but only managed to strike his effort against Bournemouth's woodwork, which was later struck for a third time by substitute Keane Lewis-Potter.

Brentford's profligacy in front of goal was punished by Bournemouth's own impact sub, with David Brooks scoring his first league goal since recovering from cancer. The 26-year-old casually rolled the ball into the back of the net from Marcus Tavernier's cutback, after Henry's loose pass to Flekken had been intercepted.

However, there was time for yet more drama, with Mbeumo making amends for his earlier miss by scoring his fourth goal in four league games and keeping the Bees' unbeaten record intact heading into the international break. body check tags ::
