Birmingham City peg back Brighton & Hove Albion through Jon Toral after Solly March's opener.

Birmingham City are holding high-flying Brighton & Hove Albion to a 1-1 draw at half time after Jon Toral cancelled out Solly March's opener at the Amex Stadium.

Liam Rosenior made an early foray into opposition territory, but his cross was just too high for Dale Stephens, who couldn't divert the ball towards goal.

The lively March then twice fed Bobby Zamora in as many minutes, but the veteran striker couldn't carve out a shooting chance with either opportunity.

The visitors, however, were posing plenty of threat themselves and could have taken the lead when Demarai Gray tricked his way into the Brighton box, only for Gordon Greer to shuffle the ball out of bounds at the expense of a corner.

It was Chris Hughton's side that took the lead on 17 minutes though as March prodded home Rosenior's cross at the second attempt after some good work out wide from Jamie Murphy.

Gary Rowett's side hit back almost instantly though as Toral headed home from close range, before an injury to Rosenior brought the game to a lengthy halt.

Rosenior left the field to applause from both sets of fans and was replaced by Inigo Calderon, and it took the hosts a moment to readjust as Nicolai Brock-Madsen almost curled his side ahead after the restart.

The hosts finished the half the stronger side, and felt they should have regained their lead when Tomasz Kuszczak dropped the ball in his own net, only for the goal to be ruled out for a push.
