Brighton & Hove Albion will reportedly table an increased offer of £5m to lure Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair away from the Stadium of Light.
The Seagulls had a £3.5m offer turned down by the Black Cats, but according to the Northern Echo, Chris Hughton's side will raise their bid to tempt McNair back to the Premier League.
The newspaper adds that Hughton is an admirer of the former Manchester United trainee and has told Brighton's board not to give up on the chase for the 23-year-old.
Sunderland owner Stewart Donald has insisted, however, that he is not prepared to sell any of his players for a lower fee after the club's relegation to League One.
McNair suffered from injury throughout this season, but scored three times in Sunderland's last five games.
