Bristol City winger Luke Freeman claims that he and his teammates are excited at the prospect of playing their first home match of the season this coming weekend.

Luke Freeman has admitted that Bristol City's players are relishing the chance to run out at a new-look Ashton Gate.

The Robins play their first home fixture of the campaign this weekend following successive away matches.

City's ground has undergone a revamp over the summer, with the new South Stand being put to use for the first time when Brentford travel to the West Country.

"We've had two tough games away from home so we're definitely looking forward to playing at Ashton Gate in front of the new (South) stand," Freeman told the club's official website.

"We've had a quick look at it and it looks lovely. The other (Dolman) stand that's been touched up is coming along too so we're looking forward to it. I think the lads are looking forward to having a home game in front of our home fans."

Steve Cotterill's men beat Walsall 8-2 in their last competitive outing at Ashton Gate back in May.
