Bristol City reportedly sack manager Steve Cotterill after a run of seven matches without a win in all competitions.

Steve Cotterill has reportedly been sacked as manager of Bristol City following a seven-match winless streak in all competitions.

The 51-year-old took over at Ashton Gate in December 2013 and steered the Robins to safety during his first season at the helm, lifting the club from 23rd in League One to finish 12th.

He followed that up by winning the League One title in record-breaking fashion last season, City's first league crown for 60 years since their 1954-55 Division Three South title.

City also won the Football League Trophy that season to become the first side to win that particular double in 20 years, in addition to sealing their return to the Championship after a two-year absence.

However, Cotterill's side have managed only four victories since their return to the second tier and currently sit 22nd in the table, two points from safety.

HITC now reports that Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at home to Preston North End - their third league loss on the bounce - proved to be the final straw for the club's board, who have taken the decision to sack Cotterill.

The former Burnley, Portsmouth and Nottingham Forest boss lost just 24 of his 110 games in charge of City.
