Bristol City close to signing Burnley's Scott Twine?

Bristol City are reportedly closing in on the loan signing of Scott Twine from Burnley, with the 24-year-old's temporary spell at Hull City set to be cut short.

Bristol City are reportedly prepared to welcome Burnley midfielder Scott Twine on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at fellow Championship outfit Hull City from Turf Moor, making 25 second-tier appearances for Liam Rosenior's Tigers so far.

Twine made the switch to the North-West from League One side MK Dons in the summer of 2022 for around £4m, helping Vincent Kompany's men secure promotion to the Premier League last term.

Despite suffering an injury-riddled campaign in Lancashire, the attack-minded midfielder featured 14 times in the league for the Clarets, scoring three goals.

After spending the first half of the term at the MKM Stadium, Bristol Live are claiming that Twine is close to making a temporary switch to Bristol City.

With Hull recently announcing the loan signing of Portuguese attacker Fabio Carvalho from Liverpool, it is understood that Rosenior is content with allowing Twine to return to Burnley this month.

The report states that the former Swindon Town man will move to Ashton Gate on a temporary deal until the conclusion of the campaign, when the Robins will have the option to buy the player.

It is believed that Bristol City were considering the idea of buying Twine outright this month, however Burnley's £5m valuation put the second-tier club off such an arrangement.

The arrival of a creative midfielder was highlighted as a key priority by Robins head coach Liam Manning in this transfer window, with Andreas Weimann set to join West Bromwich Albion.

Twine earned a lucrative move to Burnley following a productive 2021-22 season under the leadership of Manning at MK Dons, with the 24-year-old scoring 20 goals and providing 13 assists in 47 League One games.

Bristol City supporters will be hoping that the arrival of Twine can boost their side's playoff ambitions, with the Robins currently four points behind sixth-placed Coventry City.

The arrivals of Luca Koleosho, Mike Tresor and Wilson Odobert at Turf Moor in the summer led to the Hull loanee falling down the pecking order at Burnley, meaning that he may have already played his last game for the Lancashire club.

Bristol City are hopeful that Twine will be signed and registered in time to feature in their Championship match against fellow top-six chasers Watford on Saturday. body check tags ::
