Bristol Rovers chairman Colin Sexstone says that a lot of work is currently going on behind the scenes to ensure that a site is found for the club's proposed new stadium.

Bristol Rovers non-executive director Colin Sexstone has revealed that discussions are still ongoing over plans to build a new stadium.

The Pirates are hopeful of moving into a 21,700-capacity ground in the coming years, but they are currently locked in legal talks.

Regardless of the outcome of the ongoing battle with supermarket giant Sainsbury's, Sexstone is confident that a site can be found for construction to finally get underway.

"There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, which for obvious reasons cannot be disclosed," he told BBC Sport. "The UWE (University of the West of England) site is still very much there.

"The discussions are also ongoing with Sainsbury's and potentially a court hearing. Even outside that there is every chance something could happen. Looking at the development site and the location of the new stadium it would put them on a different level."

Sexstone was appointed to the Rovers board in September, two years after stepping down from his role as chairman of near-rivals Bristol City.
