Burnley striker Ashley Barnes has reportedly damaged the cruciate ligament in his right knee.
The 25-year-old limped off during the weekend's 1-0 victory over Aston Villa following a challenge with Fabian Delph.
A subsequent scan has revealed the extent of the injury, which is likely to keep Barnes on the sidelines for around nine months, according to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
If confirmed, Barnes will become the fourth Burnley player to have suffered the problem in just over a year after Sam Vokes, Kevin Long and Dean Marney all had similar setbacks.
