Burnley are reportedly interested in recruiting either Frank Lampard or Steve Cooper as their new manager heading into next season.

The Clarets are preparing for life back in the Championship during the 2024-25 term, with the Turf Moor club finishing in the bottom three of the Premier League.

Burnley collected a mere 24 points from 38 matches, meaning that they ended up eight points behind Nottingham Forest in the safety of 17th.

Despite a number of signings during last summer's transfer window, Burnley did not have the top-flight experience at times to put up a decent fight.

The Clarets concluded a sobering campaign with three straight losses to Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Forest, conceding eight goals over the trio of matches.

Burnley eyeing Lampard, Cooper?

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Burnley have identified two managers who could come to Turf Moor and attempt to secure the club an instant return to the Premier League next season.

The report claims that the second-tier Clarets are hoping to recruit the services of either Lampard or Steve Cooper during the off-season.

Although the beginning of pre-season testing is still a month away, it is understood that Burnley want to be swift with their appointment of a new head coach.

It is said that Clarets chairman Alan Pace is keen to secure a manager with either a promotion on their CV or one who is a big name in the world of football.

The vacancy at Turf Moor has quickly become apparent in recent days due to the imminent departure of the current boss to one of Europe's biggest sides.

Vincent Kompany: From Burnley to Bayern Munich

As reported last week, Bavarian giants Bayern Munich are keen on taking Burnley's Kompany to become the new head coach at the Allianz Arena.

Following a third-placed finish in the Bundesliga this season, Thomas Tuchel has departed the club and the perennial Bundesliga champions are looking for a new start.

Bayern believe that former Manchester City man Kompany can led them towards a trophy-laden future, with the Munich-based club and Burnley supposedly agreeing £10m compensation for the transfer of the Belgian.

Focusing on matters at back Turf Moor, ex-Forest boss Cooper would fit the bill of having a promotion on his CV, after guiding the East Midlands side back to the Premier League in 2022. body check tags ::
