Nick Pope: 'Burnley success down to work-rate'

Goalkeeper Nick Pope says that Burnley's transformation into a club challenging for European places in the Premier League is due to hard work.

Goalkeeper Nick Pope has suggested that much of Burnley's success this season is down to being prepared to work harder than the opposition.

With two matches remaining, Burnley are on the brink of securing a minimum of seventh place in the Premier League table and it would lead to qualification for next season's Europa League.

Manager Sean Dyche has previously stressed that Burnley must maintain the same performance levels in every match, and Pope has suggested that the squad's work-rate is a big reason for their progress since August.

The 26-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "It's down to lots of things - togetherness, squad mentality, effort, desire. Things you maybe don't associate with modern football nowadays, we've got in abundance.

"Training is a big part of what we do, we train hard every day with two players for every position pushing each other. They are the things which have got us where we are today."

Burnley will move level on points with sixth-placed Arsenal if they can register a win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
