Sean Dyche: 'Promotion-chasing Burnley face big challenge'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche claims that his side face "a lot more challenges" in the Championship this year compared to two seasons ago when they went up automatically.

Sean Dyche has suggested that Burnley face a tougher task of winning promotion from the Championship this year than they did two seasons ago.

The Clarets escaped the unpredictable second tier in 2013-14 after finishing in second place with 93 points.

However, Dyche believes that the increased spending across the division makes for an even more competitive league, which provides a tough test for his side if they are to match their previous success at this level.

"It's been slightly different in my experience of the Championship," he is quoted as saying by the Lancashire Telegraph. "We've come out of the Premier League and five or six years ago you'd be the main powerful club - along with the other two of course - because you'd just been in the top flight.

"It's changed. We're not the biggest spenders, we haven't got the biggest wage bill, we're not the power if you like regarding the off the pitch side of things. We still think we're productive on the pitch and we believe we can be even more productive as we go forwards. There are a lot more challenges this year."

Burnley have made a solid start to their campaign since being relegated last time out by taking 18 points from their first 10 games.
