Sean Dyche hails "very tough" point

Burnley boss Sean Dyche admits that it was "very tough" to claim a point from Manchester United this afternoon.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has admitted that it was "very tough" to claim a point from their trip to Manchester United this afternoon.

The contest at Old Trafford ended goalless despite United dominating the encounter with 72% possession, 37 shots and 19 corners.

Tom Heaton - between the sticks for Dyche's side - earned particular plaudits as he kept out shot after shot, including gilt-edged chances for both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney from close range late on.

"It was very tough. I think that there is a top-class group of players here at United and even at 10 men they kept coming at us. We looked more confused when they were at 10 men rather than 11," Dyche told reporters afterwards.

"The best form of defence is attack and we want to be brave. We can't do that in a way that becomes naive. We needed a bit of luck. They missed a couple of chances and our goalkeeper was fantastic. Tom has that inner belief that he will keep the ball out of the net and he has a great group of players in front of him and that is a great thing for a goalkeeper.

"I think that our players have more quality than they showed today, but I will take the fight, shape and belief that they showed every day of the week."

The result, Burnley's first point away from home this season, saw them move up to 13th in the Premier League table.
