Sports Mole rates every player who featured in Burnley's 1-0 win over Southampton at Turf Moor in the Premier League.

Burnley secured a 1-0 win over Southampton to move out of the relegation zone in the Premier League table.

Dusan Tadic failed to score from the penalty spot to give the Saints the lead in the second half, and they were punished further when Ashley Barnes netted at the other end to scoop Burnley all three points.

Below, Sports Mole rates the performances of each player who featured at Turf Moor.

BURNLEY

Goal

Tom Heaton: The stopper rarely looked troubled throughout the game and he made a fantastic save to deny Tadic from the penalty spot. (8/10)

Defence

Kieran Trippier: The right-back put in an impressive performance in both attack and defence for the home side. He consistently delivered strong crosses into the box and made some vital clearances when needed. (9/10)

Jason Shackell: The skipper stayed a solid presence in the back line and was able to keep Pelle quiet for the most part. (7/10)

Ben Mee: The defender did his job well and was able to snuff out a number of attacks from Southampton during the game. (7/10)

Michael Keane: The Manchester United loanee performed well and looked confident carrying out defensive duties for the Clarets. (6/10)

Midfield

George Boyd The midfielder was involved in the majority of Burney's attacking play and linked up well with Barnes and Ings. (7/10)

Dean Marney: He held his position well in the middle of the park and did not let Southampton get on top in that area of the field. (6/10)

David Jones: The midfielder was relatively quiet, but he kept possession well and was reliable when Burnley were on the ball. (6/10)

Scott Arfield: He showed attacking intent numerous times throughout the match and looked threatening going forward. (7/10)

Attack

Ashley Barnes: The forward linked up well with the team's leading goalscorer Ings and was rewarded for his efforts with a deflected goal in the second half. (8/10)

Danny Ings: His intricate movements and swift feet caused trouble for Southampton at times, and he played a vital role in the only goal of the game. (8/10)

Substitutes

Daniel Lafferty: The defender replaced Mee late on in the second half and was rarely troubled in his role. (6/10)

SOUTHAMPTON

Goal 4-2-3-1

Fraser Forster: The England keeper was unlucky to concede from Barnes's deflected shot, and he managed to keep out a scrambled effort in the first half. (6/10)

Defence

Nathaniel Clyne He had a late effort to equalise and scuppered the opportunity. He looked positive going forward but his usual zip was not quite there and he lost the ball in the lead up to Burnley's goal. (5/10)

Jose Fonte: Following his blunder against Manchester United on Monday night, the captain looked more comfortable in holding the back line. (7/10)

Toby Alderweireld: This was the defender's first game since coming back from injury and he was clearly hesitant throughout. Struggled to gain a commanding presence. (5/10)

Ryan Bertrand: He won the penalty for the Saints and looked impressive at times, but failed to make a significant impact down the flanks. (6/10)

Midfield

Jake Hesketh: The 18-year-old looked comfortable on the ball, but was forced off the field halfway through the first half on his full debut after he was clattered into by Keane. (5/10)

Steven Davis: The midfielder's work can sometimes go unnoticed, but he put in another solid display for the visitors. (7/10)

Victor Wanyama: He fluffed Southampton's last chance to equalise by heading over the crossbar and struggled to cause an impact in the final third. (6/10)

Dusan Tadic: He failed to maintain his attacking presence and missed Southampton's first penalty of the season on a frustrating day for Koeman's side. (5/10)

Sadio Mane: He was reckless at times against Manchester United on Monday night and he lived dangerously after getting booked at Turf Moor. Overall, he struggled to get into the game. (5/10)

Attack

Graziano Pelle: He showed glimpses of his quality, but his teammates failed to play to his strengths, which prevented him from having any real chances on goal. (6/10)

Substitutes

James Ward-Prowse: He made an early appearance following the injury to Hesketh, and considering that he has been out for a lengthy spell, he looked comfortable on the ball and had some efforts on goal. (7/10)

Shane Long: The forward came on with around 10 minutes to go and had few opportunities to score. The one effort he had failed to trouble Heaton. (6/10)
