Burnley remain winless in the Premier League after losing 3-1 to Everton at Turf Moor this afternoon.

Their day got off to a nightmare start when Samuel Eto'o rose highest to plant a Leighton Baines cross firmly past Tom Heaton after four minutes.

Danny Ings levelled up the clash later in the half with a well-taken goal, before Romelu Lukaku re-established Everton's lead once more on the half-hour mark.

The Clarets tried in vein to snatch an equaliser and Eto'o put the result beyond doubt with an excellent finish late on to pile more misery on Burnley.

Below, Sports Mole takes a look at how the players fared in Lancashire today.

Goal

Tom Heaton: Could do very little about any of the goals and comfortably dealt with anything else that Everton threw at him. Decent showing from the keeper. (6/10)

Defence

Kieran Trippier: Anonymous for the first goal, where Baines marauded into his area. Very little impact going forward from right-back. (4/10)

Michael Duff: Solid enough showing from the veteran to keep Eto'o relatively quiet aside from the two goalscoring moments in either half. (5/10)

Jason Shackell: Found himself turned by Lukaku far too easily in the lead up to the second goal, but gave the striker little to feed off after that. (5/10)

Stephen Ward: Produced an excellent block to deny Lukaku before the Belgian scored at the second attempt. Justified his selection over Ben Mee overall. (6/10)

Midfield

Scott Arfield: Burnley's primary goal threat oddly, and had a couple of near misses with first-half shots. The Clarets' best player. (6/10)

David Jones: Lost the run of Eto'o for the first goal, but provided plenty of fine deliveries from corners that deserved better. Struggled in the second half. (5/10)

Michael Kightly: Gave Seamus Coleman one or two problems in the first half but, like the rest of his teammates, never reappeared for the second half. (5/10)

George Boyd: Perhaps culpable for allowing Baines far too much freedom before crossing for Eto'o in the lead up to the first goal. Never atoned for it with a dire attacking display. (4/10)

Attack

Lukas Jutkiewicz: Grabbed an assist for Ings's goal, but had one or two good opportunities himself that he should have made more of. Looks out of his depth at Premier League level. (5/10)

Danny Ings: Failed to build on his first ever Premier League goal, and had a glorious chance to grab a second late on but fluffed his lines. Uninspiring overall. (6/10)

Substitutes

Ashley Barnes: Ineffective cameo from the Burnley forward, who offered nothing that Jutkiewicz - who he replaced - was not offering up until his departure. (4/10)

Marvin Sordell: Came on shortly before Everton's third goal and was never given a fair crack at the whip. Looked energetic throughout his cameo, however. (5/10)

Nathan Chalobah: Very little impact in his four-minute cameo. (5/10)

Goal

Tim Howard: Very little to do all afternoon and will seldom have easier games this season. He was rounded by Ings for the goal but could do little about it. (6/10)

Defence

Seamus Coleman: Did not bomb forward from right-back as often as normal but gave a good account of himself defensively and kept a cool head under pressure a number of times. (6/10)

Antolin Alcaraz: Very fortunate that Jutkiewicz was not clinical enough to capitalise on a couple of his errors from the Everton centre-half today. (5/10)

Phil Jagielka: Excellent defensive performance to shackle Ings and render him little more than a spectator after his goal. A comfortable performance overall from the veteran. (7/10)

Leighton Baines: Superb assist for Eto'o's first goal and never looked in trouble defensively, comfortably keeping Boyd quiet throughout. (6/10)

Midfield

Gareth Barry: Went about his business quiet yet effectively as always as he proved a valuable sentry in front of the Everton defence. (6/10)

James McCarthy: Did well to break up a number of challenges in midfield and looked confident in possession throughout. (6/10)

Steven Naismith: Drifted in and out of the match, but played a pivotal role in supplying Everton's second with an excellent midfield run to set up Lukaku. (6/10)

Leon Osman: Found himself on the periphery for much of the game, but did pick out Baines in the build-up to the first goal. (5/10)

Attack

Samuel Eto'o: Scored twice - including a fine second goal - to earn him the man-of-the-match award. Not always involved, but always lethal when he needed to be. (7/10)

Romelu Lukaku: Bittersweet performance from the big Belgian, who directly cost his team a goal but made amends by netting the second not long after. Still does not look at his best. (6/10)

Substitutes

Ross Barkley: Picked up where he left off against Aston Villa last week and managed to breathe fresh life into a tired Everton attack with an impressive cameo. (7/10)

Steven Pienaar: Came on in the 82nd minute and grabbed an assist for Eto'o's fine second. (6/10)
