Burnley will reportedly make an improved offer of £18m for West Bromwich Albion forward Jay Rodriguez as the Clarets look to tie up a deal ahead of Thursday's transfer deadline.
Rodriguez was involved in West Brom's Championship opener against Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, but is widely expected to move on before the transfer window slums shut.
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have recently been linked with a move, but according to Sky Sports News, Burnley lead the race, and Sean Dyche's side are preparing to make a new £18m bid having been knocked back earlier this summer.
Rodriguez, who scored 11 times in all competitions for West Brom last season, represented Burnley's first team between 2007 and 2012 before leaving for Southampton.
The 29-year-old managed 41 goals in 128 appearances during his previous spell with the Clarets.
