Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew could move for Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez, according to The Sun.
The 22-year-old striker has scored 14 goals in 32 appearances for the Championship club this season, prompting Pardew to send his scouts to watch the England Under-21s international.
Burnley are unlikely to entertain bids of less than £5m, however, for a player they feel could aid their progress back to the Premier League.
Rodriquez has also spent time in Scotland on loan with Stirling Albion.
