Burton Albion defender Kelvin Maynard has been ruled out of action for the whole season with a knee injury.
The 28-year-old was stretchered off during his side's friendly defeat to Derby County on Saturday.
Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has suggested that he may need to enter the transfer market to find a replacement for Maynard.
"We have lost Kelvin for the whole year so we will have to have a look in that area," the former Dutch striker is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
"It was unfortunate for him and for us. He has done really well in pre-season and is fit. It is a pity but we have to move on and he has to get stronger and get back as quickly as possible."
Burton start the new League One campaign on Saturday when they host Scunthorpe United.
