Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has said that his players understand the importance of today's South Wales derby against Swansea City
Mackay's side will face the Swans for the first time in the Premier League, and the 41-year-old does not believe that his side will need much motivation.
"The whole group know the importance with what is at stake locally, with the bragging rights, and everything that comes attached to a derby," Mackay told RTE Sport. "The heightened expectation around the place shows that.
"For us it's like the League Cup final two years ago, or those last two weeks of last season when there was a huge sense of occasion then in that we could get promoted.
"This game rivals that for importance in the way the fans take to it."
Reports are circulating that Mackay is ready to quit his post.
