Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the impact of Federico Macheda after the forward scored twice in Cardiff City's 3-2 League Cup win over Port Vale last night.
The Bluebirds were level at 1-1 with their League One opponents at half time before the former Manchester United striker netted twice to ensure that his side progressed to the third round.
Solskjaer told BBC Sport: "When a striker scores two goals on his debut, that's fantastic."
The Cardiff boss also hinted that Macheda's teammates should follow his lead after they struggled to test Vale's goalkeeper in the opening 45 minutes.
"First half we dominated possession [but] we don't shoot enough, we don't finish enough. We get into some great positions and we're just a little bit shot-shy," he said.
Cardiff's next game sees them travel to fellow Championship newcomers Fulham on Saturday.
