Cardiff City put five goals past Barnsley en route to a 5-3 triumph at home in a middle-of-the-table clash this afternoon.
Kenny Miller scored on his return from injury to put the home side ahead after ten minutes. However, the former Rangers man had to be taken off prior to the half-hour mark after suffering another setback.
Replacement Joe Mason put his stamp on the match in a matter of minutes by scoring from a free kick to double their lead.
Barnsley responded two minutes later, as Daniel Drinkwater hit the back of the net from a long-range free kick of his own. However, Cardiff's Aron Gunnarsson capped the five-minute, three-goal spell from 35 yards out to restore the home side's two-goal lead at the half.
Don Cowie made it four on the hour, rounding goalkeeper Luke Steele and finding the back of the net. Aron Gunnarsson then put the result out of doubt, scoring his second goal of the game after an assist from Peter Whittingham.
Late goals from Barnsley defender Jimmy McNulty and Ricardo Vaz Te proved to be little more than a consolation for the Tykes, as they slip further down the table.
