Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson has admitted that he would be disappointed to see his teammate Peter Whittingham leave the club this month.
Whittingham, who has scored eight goals from midfield this season, has been linked with a transfer to West Ham United during the ongoing transfer window.
However, Gunnarsson believes that Cardiff's quest for promotion will convince Whittingham to remain with the club.
"Peter comes into training with a smile on his face so I assume he's happy here. We are on a good run, I hardly think he would want to go. I think he's settled here and I don't think he wants to go," he told Wales Online.
"He would be a loss obviously. He's a great player and it would be sad to see him go, but I know for a fact the gaffer (Malky Mackay) will try to keep hold of him.
"It's not long since he signed a new deal. It would be a big loss, but we are not thinking about that at the moment. I think he is happy here and I don't want to see him go."
Whittingham joined the Bluebirds in 2007 from Aston Villa.
