Cardiff City have granted Ravel Morrison compassionate leave and allowed him to return to training with parent club West Ham United.
The 21-year-old is on loan in the Welsh capital until Boxing Day, but will now return to London because of "personal circumstances".
A statement on Cardiff's website read: "Due to personal circumstances, Cardiff City have allowed Ravel Morrison compassionate leave and permission to train in more familiar surroundings at this time with his parent club, West Ham United."
Morrison made just one start for Cardiff and failed to score in seven appearances for the Bluebirds.
He had much more success when helping Queens Park Rangers get promoted from the Championship earlier this year, with six goals in 17 appearances in a loan spell at Loftus Road.
