Preston North End have enhanced their chances of automatic promotion from League One with a 1-0 away victory over Carlisle United.
The hosts had the better of the chances in the opening stages of the encounter at Brunton Park, as Sean O'Hanlon came close twice with headers.
However, it was Preston who broke the deadlock three minutes before the half-time break when Josh Brownhill fired home from outside the box.
Tom Clarke and Jack King had chances in quick succession to extend the visitors' lead at the start of the second half, while Tom Lawrence and Prince Buaben went close for Carlisle minutes after the hour mark.
The result lifts Preston into fourth position in the league table for the time being, while Carlisle are 16th.
