Carlisle United manager Keith Curle has confirmed that Derek Asamoah has started training with the club.
The 33-year-old, who played under Curle earlier in his career with Mansfield and Chester, has been without a team since he left South Korean outfit Daegu FC last year.
"Whether you could call it a trial I don't know. He's doing some conditioning work to get himself in a position where he could play a couple of games," Curle told the News & Star.
"We were thinking about an in-house game, but I don't like them. I like a little bit more competitive edge."
Asamoah has been capped on four occasions by Ghana at senior international level.
