Celtic striker Anthony Stokes has said that patience paid off in yesterday's Scottish Premiership opening-day meeting with Ross County.
After Darren Maatsen had given Ross County an early lead at Parkhead, Stokes scored either side of half time, including an 87th-minute winner, to get the Bhoys' league campaign off to a positive start.
"The goal probably woke us up and we got at them for the rest of the game and made plenty of chances but we just didn't take them," the 25-year-old told reporters.
"For long parts of the game I thought we might not get the goal but we kept at it and we broke them down eventually and when you win games it breeds confidence."
Despite Stokes's goals yesterday, manager Neil Lennon admitted that he is still after a new striker.
