Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town played out a goalless opening 45 minutes at The Valley in their Championship match this evening.
The home fans marked the third minute with a round of applause for former manager Chris Powell, who was sacked earlier this week.
Alex Smithies had to make an early stop in the Huddersfield goal when Astrit Ajdarevic tried a long-range effort for the hosts, but the keeper was able to palm it away.
The visitors had a chance of their own just a couple of minutes later as Sean Scannell sent in a cross for Nahki Wells, but the striker's attempt was saved.
The visitors appealed for a penalty after Wells was brought down by a Michael Morrison challenge later in the half, but the referee waved away their protests.
Both sides had a series of chances in a frantic finish to the first half, but neither could edge ahead before the half-time whistle.
