Chris Powell has admitted that his Charlton Athletic players did not reach the standards he expects in their 1-0 home defeat to Millwall today.
The winning goal came from Scott McDonald after 38 minutes, but the Addicks failed to create many chances after that and Powell has warned that his players must do better.
"It was a home game and a derby and I wanted us to put the opposition on the back foot but we didn't do that," he told Sky Sports News.
"In the first half I really needed more from my players, in respect of creativity. We've got to realise it will be a tough old season for us but we have to believe we can turn it around."
Charlton are just one place above the Championship relegation zone in 21st.
