Charlton Athletic will go into Saturday's Championship clash with Huddersfield Town knowing that victory would go a long way towards ensuring their survival this season.
The Addicks currently sit eight points clear of the drop zone thanks to two wins from their last three outings, and another victory this weekend would see them leapfrog their opponents in the table.
Guy Luzon will not feel entirely safe until his side are mathematically guaranteed Championship football next season, but with a cluster of teams more vulnerable than them as things stand, the threat of relegation is not an immediately pressing concern.
Things weren't as comfortable earlier this month when defeat to Norwich City made it 14 matches without a win in all competitions, but back-to-back victories over Brentford and Wigan Athletic stopped the rot in timely fashion.
They could do little to avoid defeat in midweek as league leaders Derby County eased to a 2-0 victory at the iPro Stadium, but the Rams are the last team currently in the top eight of the table that the Addicks will have to face before the final day of the season.
Charlton have only won once at The Valley since October, but that victory did come in their most recent home game as they cruised to a 3-0 triumph over playoff-chasing Brentford.
Jordan Cousins is a doubt for the match through injury, while the man who replaced him on Tuesday, Lawrie Wilson, could himself make way this weekend as Alou Diarra pushes for a full debut.
Chris Eagles is also hoping to make his first start for the club but may be forced to settle for a third consecutive substitute appearance.
Unlike others, Huddersfield have had trouble scoring at The Valley in recent times, netting just six goals in their last 10 visits and never managing to find the back of the net more than once in any of those games.
There were no such problems in front of goal on Tuesday, however, as Harry Bunn, Nahki Wells and Ishmael Miller were all on the scoresheet in a 3-0 victory over Reading at the John Smith's Stadium.
That was enough to lift Chris Powell's men into the top half of the table, while they have now lost just one of their last five outings in the league.
The last two of those have brought clean sheets as well, and another one this weekend would give them three in a row for the first time since April 2011.
The Terriers have even improved on their travels recently, losing just one of their last five away games and doubling their win tally on the road for the season in the process.
Tuesday's victory gives Powell a selection dilemma having made three changes for the match, with James Vaughan, Conor Coady and Sean Scannell among those hoping for a recall.
The Huddersfield boss may be tempted to name an unchanged side, however, with Miller having opened his account for the club in the win and the front three all scoring. Joel Lynch remains the only injury absentee.
The reverse fixture between these two sides in August served up some late drama as Igor Vetokele scored deep into injury time to rescue a 1-1 draw for the Addicks.
