Chris Powell has lost on his return to Charlton Athletic, as his Huddersfield Town side succumbed to a 3-0 defeat today.
After a quiet opening 20 minutes, the home team almost took the lead as Tony Watt cut inside his marker and set up Igor Vetokele, but his shot was saved by Alex Smithies.
Huddersfield then thought that they had scored as Ishmael Miller converted a flick from Murray Wallace, but it was ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.
Their misery was compounded only minutes later, as Johann Berg Gudmundsson curled a fine free kick into the top corner from 25 yards.
Miller went close to equalising for the visitors shortly after, as Jack Robinson found him in the box but he put his effort wide. Vetokele then had his second big chance of the match, but his poor connection on Morgan Fox's cross cost his side a two-goal half-time lead.
The Addicks doubled their advantage shortly after the break, as Vetokele and Watt combined neatly again, and Watt slid the ball confidently past Smithies.
Lawrie Wilson almost netted a third but his shot was cleared off the line, before Watt scored his second with an emphatic finish after he skipped past two tackles.
Charlton almost added a late fourth, but Chris Eagles's overhit cross crashed off the bar.
