Sports Mole looks ahead to Tuesday night's Championship match at The Valley as improving mid-table side Charlton Athletic welcome on-fire Nottingham Forest.

Two of the Championship's in-form sides do battle at The Valley on Tuesday night as mid-table Charlton Athletic take on playoff-chasing Nottingham Forest.

After going 14 games without a win in all competitions, Charlton have won three of their last four games by a 3-0 scoreline to move themselves 11 points above the relegation zone.

Guy Luzon appears to be getting what he wants out of his players at long last, with their only defeat in the most recent four outings coming at league leaders Derby County six days ago.

Saturday's 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town appears to have come at a cost, though, as both Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Chris Solly may have to sit out the visit of Forest with muscular injuries.

Lawrie Wilson could replace Solly at full-back, while Alou Diarra may earn his first Addicks start if Gudmundsson isn't declared fit.

Charlton have won just one of their last eight games against Forest, but that did come in March last year when Jordan Cousins scored the winner at the City Ground.

Forest, meanwhile, are in sizzling form under Dougie Freedman with 16 points out of a possible 18 since he succeeded Stuart Pearce.

His five wins in six games are as many victories as Pearce managed in the previous 24 games and Forest are right back in the playoff hunt.

They are still 10 points shy of the top six, but with many of the sides above them stuttering of late, their playoff dreams are alive again.

Freedman could go with the same XI that toppled Reading 3-0 on Saturday, but he hasn't been afraid to make changes in their strong recent run so the likes of Chris Burke and Gary Gardner could return to the lineup.

Forest are unbeaten in their last three trips to the Valley, winning two and drawing the other.
