Chelsea and Benfica go into the break goalless in their Champions League quarter-final first-leg tie at the Stadium of Light in Portugal.

The two sides enjoyed an equal share of possession but both were largely limited to shots from long range, with neither goalkeeper severely tested.

David Luiz, who was playing against his former club, brought the ball out from the back but shot wide on eight minutes.

For the hosts, Bruno Cesar's effort from 25 yards was held comfortably by Petr Cech while Oscar Cardozo headed over from inside the box following Maxi Pereira's cross.

With the half winding down, Raul Meireles came closest to opening the scoring but his long-range piledriver was pushed wide by Artur in the Benfica net.
