Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has sustained a calf injury during the first half of Wednesday's Champions League fixture with Malmo.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel had suggested in his pre-match press conference that the 28-year-old could drop down to the substitutes' bench due to fatigue.
However, despite a lively opening quarter at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku lasted just 22 minutes after picking up a knock when winning his side a penalty.
Lukaku had worked his way into a position in front of the goalkeeper before Lasse Nielsen bundled the Belgian over while also making contact with the ball.
Despite the challenge looking fairly innocuous, Nielsen's body weight fell on Lukaku's lower legs, leading to the Blues man required treatment.
Although he attempted to walk off the injury, Lukaku eventually indicated to the bench that he needed to be substituted.
