Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has insisted that the club's owner Roman Abramovich deserved to win the Champions League after heavily investing in the team.
The Blues won their first European Cup after beating Bayern Munich in a penalty shootout at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, and the England international believes that Abramovich should take a huge amount of credit for the success.
"Roman Abramovich deserves this," Lampard said.
"We wouldn't be where we are without him pumping in the money and producing the squad that he's done."
Lampard also revealed that the Chelsea squad felt they had their name on the trophy all season, having had to come from tough positions to beat Napoli, Benfica and Barcelona in previous rounds.
"It's amazing. We've been close so many times before. Tonight maybe our name was on the cup," he added.
"People said we were lucky against Barcelona and Bayern Munich but you make your own luck. We've had some bad luck in this competition before so maybe it was just our time."
Abramovich took over Chelsea in June 2003.
