Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has declared that Fernando Torres showed exactly what he offers in attack by scoring three goals in two matches last week.
Torres struck a brace against Schalke 04 in the Champions League in midweek before bagging a late winner in Sunday's 2-1 victory at home to Manchester City.
Mata believes that Torres can keep critics quiet by continuing to provide a positive contribution for the Blues, as he fights with Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba to lead the line at Stamford Bridge.
In his weekly blog with Grada 360, the playmaker wrote: "The first victory was midweek in Germany, against Schalke 04, in an amazing stadium where we managed to get a great win.
"Fernando had a leading role with two goals, to show, once again, that he's a player who contributes many things to the team.
"They say for strikers it's a matter of being in luck, and so another goal from him made the fans at the Bridge happy in our second big win of the week, against Manchester City."
Mata was left out of the side to face City at the weekend but he is aiming for a recall in the League Cup this evening, as manager Jose Mourinho takes his team to the Emirates Stadium for a fourth-round tie against Arsenal.
