John Terry "didn't sleep a wink" following Chelsea's Champions League exit

John Terry believes that the fact he found Chelsea's defeat against Paris Saint-Germain so hard to take highlights just how much he still cares about the club.

John Terry has revealed his personal torment over Chelsea's recent Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues were favourites heading into the last-16 clash, although a topsy-turvy second leg at Stamford Bridge saw the Ligue 1 club prevail on away goals.

Terry's wait for a second European Cup goes on for another year, but the Chelsea skipper says that he had no choice other than to pick himself up ahead of a gruelling final run-in to the season.

"I didn't sleep a wink all night - but you know it would be horrible if I did," he told The Sun. "If I got home and went to sleep, for me something would be telling me, 'You know what? Time's up'. If you're not caring, something's gone.

"But I do realise as well that there's a game three or four days later and you have to pick yourself up, you have to go again. You can't dwell on it."

Chelsea are on course to claim their first Premier League title in five years, sitting six points ahead of closest challengers Manchester City with a game in hand still to play.
