Chelsea are on the brink of exit from the Champions League as they lost 3-0 to Juventus in Turin in Group E.
Roberto Di Matteo's side have now slipped to third in the group.
In what was an entertaining first 45 minutes, the first chance fell to the home side in the fourth minute when Stephan Lichtsteiner had his effort deflected onto the post by Petr Cech.
Five minutes later Oscar came close for Chelsea when he skipped past two Juve defenders to release Eden Hazard, only for the Belgian winger to see his shot saved by Gianluigi Buffon.
Thereafter, it was all one-way traffic as Juventus began to assert themselves on the game, Claudio Marchisio forcing out a save from Cech in the 15th minute.
Five minutes later the Chelsea goalkeeper was again called into action, this time from a shot from Quagliarella, before Mirko Vucinic tried his luck on goal but in vain.
Andrea Pirlo too had a shot on target on 25 minutes from a direct free kick, but once again Cech held his nerve.
The Italian champions eventually broke the deadlock and the goal came in the 38th minute.
Pirlo took a shot from outside the Chelsea area that Quagliarella deflected home past Cech.
Antonio Conte's side could have gone 2-0 up moments later had Ashley Cole not cleared a Lichtsteiner attempt off the line.
The Italian giants continued to dominate proceedings after the half-time interval, with Vucinic blasting his shot off target from a tight angle in the 47th minute
Quagliarella tested Cech with a shot on the turn on 56 minutes, before Pirlo tried his luck.
Juventus did not have to wait long before scoring their second goal of the evening.
Vucinic found Kwadwo Asamoah with a good pass from the left and the midfielder's pass across the face of the goal was slotted in by Arturo Vidal just after the hour mark.
Sebastian Giovinco wrapped up the points for the Bianconeri in the first minute of injury time with an easy finish.
